Weight gain can be very frustrating ESPECIALLY when it’s because of health conditions such as sugar addiction, emotional eating, or hormonal imbalance or a combination of all three. I’m Karen Robinson. A mother of four (including a son with autism), happily married for over 40 years and blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren. I’ve gotta share a secret with you. I may be a health coach now, but that wasn’t always the case. In fact, if someone had told me 10 years ago I’d be interested in health and nutrition, I would have laughed.
I mean, I was the gal who was addicted to CHOCOLATE BARS and MORNING GLORY MUFFINS…AND I was an emotional eater.
Until I turned 50, I only gained maybe 1 pound per year, and since I started out as a skinny girl, I thought that was okay. To be honest, I couldn’t see that I was slowly becoming overweight.
But then I discovered the not so wonderful world of MENOPAUSE and HORMONAL IMBALANCE and found that I was suddenly packing on the pounds like there was no tomorrow. Menopause didn’t care that I used to be skinny and that I used to be able to eat almost anything without gaining too much weight. When I turned 50, no matter how much I exercised or dieted, I couldn’t keep the weight off… never mind losing any weight. I had high cholesterol and was on the verge of becoming diabetic.
That is why I started on a journey of research and education specific to weight gain in women over 50. And over the past 5 years, I’ve been discovering how to use a different approach to weight loss. Using this approach, I balanced my hormones, kicked my sugar addition and resolved my emotional eating habits. Not only am I down to my ideal weight but even more important, I am able to keep the extra weight off FOREVER. In addition, I have been able to come off of medication for menopausal symptoms and for high cholesterol, and I am no longer at risk for having type 2 diabetes.
